Soft fennel

The plant is used for medicinal purposes. A decoction of the powdered roots is useful for treating mouth inflammation and for washing or compressing the eyes. The leaves are useful for treating abrasions in the genitals and breasts. The boiled leaves are used to expel gases and relieve the resulting pain in the intestines, to treat coughs, asthma attacks, whooping cough, laryngitis, indigestion, and to treat urinary tract infections. Pregnant women can drink a decoction of fennel to treat digestive disorders such as constipation, intestinal gas, nausea, and vomiting. A decoction of fennel seeds is useful for milk secretion in breastfeeding women.
