Grape leaves or yalanji are a famous dish in our Arab world. In Jordan, they are called (grape leaves) and in Syria (yalanji). Yalanji is famous in Syria, specifically in the Halabi cuisine, and it goes back to Turkish origins. The word yalanji is of Turkish origin, and its name has remained with it to this day. It means (the stuffed liar), because it is not stuffed with meat.

Shami yalanji is grape leaves stuffed with rice and vegetables. They are rolled up after being stuffed and then cooked. Yalanji can be served as a main meal or as an appetizer.
